Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef /Cook responsible for the planning and provision of daily fresh, nutritious and appealing meals for all our residents all within our budget.
The ideal candidate will have a caring, patient, and compassionate attitude, a heart for service, an understanding of special dietary needs, and a passion for creating a positive mealtime experience for our residents.
In addition, you will ensure all health and safety and environmental standards are achieved and maintained. You must be a team player who will work well with other staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan menus and prepare and cook meals accordingly, ensuring nutritional value, presentation, and portion control.
Follow food hygiene and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment including regular deep cleaning.
Implement and maintain health and safety procedures including correct food handling and storage.
Accommodate special dietary requirements (e.g., diabetic, low sodium, allergies).
Maintain stock control and assist in ordering food supplies as needed.
Support kitchen team members and work collaboratively with care staff to ensure timely meal service.
Engage with residents in a respectful and friendly manner, creating a positive mealtime experience.
Comply with all health and safety regulations and care home policies.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a cook in a care home, healthcare facility, or similar environment preferred.
Excellent cooking skills and knowledge of nutrition, dietary restrictions, and menu planning.
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
NVQ Level 2 to 3 in Food Preparation/Catering
First Aid Certified (or willing to become certified)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and to manage time effectively
Knowledge of health & safety regulations and procedures
