Summary

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a dedicated and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is confident in leading learning and passionate about helping children achieve their full potential. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a HLTA:

  • Lead whole-class lessons during teacher PPA cover or in the teacher’s absence, following agreed plans.

  • Support individuals and small groups of pupils across a range of abilities and subjects.

  • Assist in planning, delivering and assessing intervention programmes to raise attainment.

  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.

  • Provide targeted support for pupils with additional needs, including those with SEN.

  • Liaise effectively with teachers and other support staff to ensure high-quality provision.

Ideal HLTA:

  • Hold HLTA status (or be working towards it), or have significant experience as a senior Teaching Assistant.

  • Be confident leading learning across the primary phase.

  • Have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills as an HLTA.

  • Show initiative, flexibility and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
