Are you an experienced Project Manager with a background in delivering high-tech engineering or innovation-led projects? This is a unique opportunity to lead the development of cutting-edge laser welding technology designed for unmanned use in challenging, high-hazard environments-contributing to the future of clean energy and advanced remote maintenance.
About the Role
You'll manage the full lifecycle of a specialist laser systems programme-from planning and coordination to testing and integration. The project is highly technical, involving robotics, optics, software and mechanical systems. You'll also work closely with external partners and research collaborators across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead project delivery through R&D to TRL 6 (tested in relevant environment)
* Coordinate internal technical teams and external stakeholders
* Manage project timelines, budgets, resources and risk
* Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
* Produce progress reports and support technical reviews
* Enable integration into larger automation and maintenance platforms
Requirements
Essential
* Proven experience in managing engineering, manufacturing, or R&D projects
* Strong understanding of project planning, risk management, and reporting
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Degree in Engineering, Physics, Project Management, or similar discipline
* Project management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM PMQ)
Desirable
* Experience working with EU or publicly funded collaborative projects
* Familiarity with laser technologies, robotics, or remote handling
* Exposure to nuclear, aerospace, or safety-critical sectors
