Summary
Development Technologist (Food Ingredients)
Hertfordshire
£35k-£45k plus Benefits
Not a “lab-only” role. Not a desk job. Not for people who get nervous near a production line.
Let’s be honest…
If your idea of a great food development job is sitting behind a desk at home, this probably isn’t for you.
This is a role for someone who likes to get stuck in.
We’re talking pilot plants. factory floors. face-to-face with major customers. Getting your hands dusty (literally) formulating innovative ingredient solutions that actually work in real-life production.
And, better yet, they taste good too.
Who you’ll be working with
You’ll report to the R&D Manager – a great leader who knows their stuff. You’ll be part of a talented team of R&D professionals who are passionate about creating great products.
Their customers are major food industry players. When they need innovation, you’ll bring it. When they need troubleshooting, you’ll show up on-site and fix it. You’ll build real relationships with them – because they trust your knowledge and innovative mindset.
What you’ll actually be doing:
Turning customer briefs into commercially viable products
Going on-site to support trials and launches – this isn’t a lab-only role
Using your knowledge of ingredients to solve problems and make good things better
Helping the business stay ahead by researching new market trends
Pitching in when teammates need support
What we’re looking for:
A genuine interest in culinary food development
Experience taking products from concept to launch
Comfortable getting face-time with customers and working hands-on in production
Strong technical knowledge of ingredients and how they behave
Willingness to travel (UK and occasionally overseas)
A food-related degree or equivalent experience
If that’s you, hit apply. Or contact Rachel to chat through the details.
