Summary

Job Title: SEND Learning Support Assistant

Location: North London

Position: 4 days a week

Hours: 8.45 am - pm

Pay: £14-£16 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive college located in North London. Someone who is passionate about supporting students with a range of SEND and who can contribute to a positive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work under the guidance of the classroom teacher to support SEND students in achieving their individual educational and developmental goals
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans and provide tailored support to students with a variety of learning needs, such as ASC, ADHD, dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties
  • Encourage and assist students during classroom activities, ensuring they remain engaged and motivated
  • Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians as necessary
  • Promote positive behaviour and social skills, implementing strategies to support students in managing their own behaviour
  • Prepare and organise resources and materials to assist in delivering effective learning activities.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for all students.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or within a special education setting is preferred
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient individual who is comfortable working with children/young adults who have a range of learning difficulties and behavioural challenges
  • Good understanding of the curriculum and various educational strategies to support children/young adults with SEND
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, parents/guardians, and other professionals
  • Sound organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively
  • Enhanced DBS check on update service or willingness to undertake one
