Job Overview:

At Royal Oak our food is popular with both guests and locals who can dine in our comfortable relaxing atmosphere.

With the New Forest on our doorstep, we have plenty of local suppliers. Our meat is sourced less than 3 miles away at Godshill from New Pastures Butchers. The coast is a short stone’s throw away which means our fish is always fresh and line caught where possible.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef who will love the Kitchen environment and working within a team of Chefs, maintaining the The Royal Oaks reputation of delivering exceptional food and service. This role is perfect for individuals looking to advance or start their career in a vibrant kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and cooking of various dishes under the supervision of the head chef or sous chef/CDP's
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all food preparation processes. contributing to the effective maintenance of the food safety management system and the required due diligence recording.
Support the kitchen team in managing food production efficiently and effectively.
Help with the organisation of kitchen supplies and ingredients, ensuring proper storage and stock rotation.
Participate in menu planning and contribute ideas for new dishes or improvements.
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service periods.
Follow instructions from chefs and supervisors, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt.
Be proactive in keeping busy, completing tasks and seeking the next task, learning from others, seeking guidance when needed.
Adhere to company policies and procedures
Be a team player contributing to effective professional working relationships.
Requirements

Previous experience in a kitchen environment is advantageous but not essential; a passion for cooking is key.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices is preferred.
Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Have high standards of personal hygiene, promoting a professional image.
Basic culinary skills with an eagerness to learn more about food preparation techniques.
Good communication skills, enabling effective interaction within the kitchen team.
Ability to manage time efficiently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen.
Must be able to get to the Royal Oak for the differing shift patterns.
Shift pattern is 5 days out of 7 including weekends
