Salary: Grade G. SCP 23 £16,683 - SCP 28 £18,969 (Actual salary)

Hours Per Week: 18 hours

Work Pattern: 3-4 days per week to be worked between Monday to Saturday. Approximately 1 Late night until 8pm every 2-3 weeks. Saturday 10-3pm approximately every four weeks

Base Location: Stalybridge Library, Trinity Street, Stalybridge, SK15 2BN / Dukinfield Library, Concord Way, Dukinfield, SK16 4DB

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for dynamic individuals with commitment, enthusiasm and a ‘can do attitude’ to join the Tameside Libraries team. You will hold a level 6 qualification in librarianship or equivalent, or be willing to work towards an appropriate qualification, ideally with previous experience in a public library service.

This wide ranging, diverse role will offer the right candidates an opportunity to play an important part in tailoring the service to address local, Greater Manchester and national priorities. The role undertakes vital work to engage a wide range of residents with the Library Service.

About You

You will work as part of a team to deliver a quality service in line with our library offer, which includes engaging with priority groups in the community such as children and young people, harder to reach groups, digitally excluded, and older people. Responsibilities include planning and delivering a range of events and activities. Stock management in libraries is also an important aspect of the job.

Our ideal candidate will have excellent people skills, be hardworking and committed to developing the service in the context of the Council’s vision and stated core purpose. They must also be flexible, resilient, and have good IT skills.

In return, we offer a competitive salary, a minimum of 28 days (pro rata) leave per year (based on service), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, support and training.
