Summary
For further information on this role, please see the attached detailed Job Description and Person Specification: To ensure protocols and standards are maintained and improved to produce best diagnostic information and patient care. To perform imaging examinations as an operator under the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations. To follow the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) guidelines, local rules, and the departmental standard operating procedures. To comply with accurate patient identification procedures To ensure referrals are justified correctly and booked in a timely manner. To give advice where appropriate on the validity of requested examinations. To be aware of Radiation safety when undertaking CT examinations and ensure the safety and protection of patients, staff and carers are adhered to. To perform standard equipment Quality Assurance (QA), record results accurately and alert the Superintendent radiographer/medical physics as required. To assess specific communication needs of individual patients and to ascertain from the patient, patients guardian or the referrer, patients suitability and consent for receipt of intravenous contrast media. To anticipate where communication difficulties might make completion of the CT checklist impossible and to implement alternative methods to ensure that patient safety is maintained. To administer intravenous contrast via a pressure injector. To give advice on aftercare following interventional procedures and bruising/extravasations post intravenous contrast injection To accurately record/retrieve data on patients allergy status with particular reference to intravenous contrast
