Summary

Primary SEN Teaching Assistant - Visual Impairment & Autism Support - Newham

We are working with a caring and inclusive primary school in Newham to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant from September 2025.


This is a rewarding role supporting two children with visual impairment and one child with autism, working closely with the class teacher and SEN team to ensure access to learning and full inclusion in school life.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to children with visual impairment and autism
* Modify and adapt learning materials to meet individual sensory and cognitive needs
* Use assistive tools and structured strategies to enhance engagement and independence
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the SENCo and external specialists
* Track pupil progress, provide regular feedback and support EHCP delivery
* Foster a calm, structured and nurturing classroom environment

Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience supporting pupils with visual impairment and autism in a primary school setting
* Confidence using or learning assistive technologies and accessibility strategies
* A calm, patient and proactive approach to SEN support
* Good communication and teamwork skills
* A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting children to reach their potential

Location and Transport - Newham, London E13
* Accessible via Plaistow and Upton Park stations
* Local bus routes: 241, 262, 473, 325
* Easily commutable from Tower Hamlets, Barking and Redbridge
