This role is offered on a Variable Hours contract for services, giving you the flexibility to choose whether to accept work offered to you. We’ll provide an approximate number of hours you may asked to work, however there is no obligation for work to be offered, and there’s no obligation for you to accept the work offered.

The Opportunity

Based at our Wigfield Farm campus, you will be at the heart of a friendly and fast-paced catering team, helping to create great food experiences every day. From preparing fresh ingredients to keeping service areas fully stocked and spotless, your role is all about making sure our students, staff, and visitors enjoy a smooth and welcoming dining experience. Whether you are assisting in the kitchen, handling payments, or ensuring everything runs like clockwork, you will bring energy, enthusiasm, and a customer-focused approach to everything you do.

You will set up service counters, keep food and drinks replenished, and make sure our catering outlet is ready to go. A warm and professional manner is key, as you will be interacting with customers throughout the day. You will also play an important role behind the scenes—helping with deliveries, keeping stock organised, and completing essential food safety documentation to maintain top hygiene standards.

This is a great opportunity to develop your skills, with training available to help you grow in your role. You’ll work both independently and as part of a team, including alongside apprentices and learners on placement, making every day varied and rewarding. Your commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment will also support the safeguarding of children and young people, ensuring our college remains a great place to learn and work.

With the chance to work across different catering outlets, you will gain valuable experience while keeping things fresh and interesting. Additional duties may come your way depending on the needs of the team, giving you the chance to contribute even more to the smooth running of the catering service.

About You

You will be a key part of a friendly and energetic team, making sure students, staff, and visitors enjoy a fantastic dining experience every day. With your customer-focused approach and warm, professional manner, you’ll help create a welcoming atmosphere while delivering great service.

In this fast-paced role, you will keep things running smoothly, stocking up service areas, keeping everything clean, and following food safety procedures to the highest standards. Whether you are assisting in the kitchen, handling payments, or managing stock and deliveries behind the scenes, your enthusiasm and reliability will make a real difference.

You will be working alongside a supportive team, including apprentices and learners on placement, so teamwork and a positive attitude are key. With the chance to work across different catering outlets, no two days will be the same, keeping things fresh and exciting.

Most importantly, you will take pride in maintaining high hygiene and safety standards, helping to create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for everyone at the college.

Required

• Level 2 Food Safety qualification or willingness to achieve
• Level 1 literacy and numeracy or willingness to achieve
• Experience in customer service
