Summary

We're looking to recruit a Domestic Abuse Coordinator on behalf of a well-established housing association on a minimum 3-month temporary contract. This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work from home throughout the working week and between the offices in Warrington.

You'll play an important role in supporting customers who have been impacted by domestic abuse, using your empathy and listening skills to build trust, risk-assess their situation and identify and take ownership of actions needed to support them. You'll attend MARAC meetings and work in partnership with internal teams and external services to reduce the risk to victim/survivors.

Key responsibilities:

  • Acting as the central point of contact for Domestic Abuse reports from customers, establishing a safe method of contact and identifying & coordinating the delivery of key tasks such as making the property safe.
  • Carrying out DASH/Merit risk assessments with customers and making safeguarding & MARAC referrals dependent on risk and other statutory/non-statutory agencies offering specialist support and intervention
  • Maintaining regular contact with customers until case closure, regularly reviewing and updating risk assessments, identifying changing or escalating risk and managing any disengagement
  • Refer perpetrators to behaviour change programmes, identify instances where enforcement measures against perpetrators may be appropriate and refer cases to the ASB team.
  • Review MARAC listings to identify customers and attend MARAC meetings for both referred and identified customers.
  • Coordinating interventions such as target hardening specific to their needs
  • Providing specialist advice and guidance to the wider business on domestic abuse cases

What you'll need to succeed

  • In-depth experience of supporting victims/survivors of domestic abuse within housing and a deep understanding of domestic abuse in all forms
  • Excellent understanding of best practice in safeguarding adults and children and legal remedies available
  • Ability to challenge and escalate concerns with other professionals, including the Police, IDVAs and Social Care
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate information in a range of ways.
  • Understanding of trauma informed practice, housing practice and the welfare benefit system
