Summary

We are looking to recruit a Nursing Assistant who would like to work in a busy, dynamic and friendly Ambulatory Care Unit providing Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).

Within Ambulatory Care (SDEC) we care for both medical and surgical patients. We deliver care to patients with planned appointments and also patients that have been referred from various services such as the front door streaming service, emergency department, GPs and urgent treatment centres.

The successful candidate will be expected to work within a dynamic nursing team. Similar experience is desirable but not essential, the unit has multiple learning opportunities.

The unit is open 7 days a week 07:30 - 22:00. There are a variety of different working patterns including day shifts, weekends and bank holidays.

Please note we reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the closing date once the required number of suitable applications have been received.

To support the team in delivering same day emergency care to all patients. Assisting with triage and caring for patients.

Tasks include requesting bloods, venepuncture, cannulation, ECG's and various other clinical tasks.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.

The successful candidate would be required to do the following:

Accurately record all patient observations, ECGs, perform bladder scans and blood sugar levels.
Venepuncture, blood gases, blood cultures and cannulation.
To demonstrate safe manual handling of patients.
Assist in ensuring a clean, safe and pleasant ward environment.
To adhere to trust policies.
To utilise trust resources effectively.
Share knowledge and skills with all new members of staff, including students.
To complete staff surveys.
To take personal responsibilities for achieving agreed objectives through the appraisal process.
