About the role:

Are you passionate about making a difference in people’s lives through housing? Horsham District Council is looking for a dedicated Housing Officer (Landlord Services) to join our dynamic Housing Services team.

As a Housing Officer (Landlord Services), you will manage a diverse portfolio of properties and tenants, working with private landlords and our council housing company. You will play a crucial role as the vital link between our customers and landlords, helping to ensure safe, affordable, and well-managed housing within our district.

You will be responsible for:

Managing tenancies and ensuring both tenant and landlord obligations are met, as outlined in the tenancy agreements.
Supporting a diverse clientele by utilising outreach services to encourage tenancy sustainment.
Facilitating timely rent collection from tenants and working with outreach services in times of financial hardship.
Procuring new private sector landlords to participate in either the Council’s Private Rented Sector or Private Sector Leasing Schemes.
Working closely with the wider Housing Services team, which handles homelessness, the housing register, and the delivery of new affordable homes.
About you:

To succeed as Housing Officer (Landlord Services), you will be a solution-focused, people person, with the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. You will have:

Proven experience working within private lettings or a housing association environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Competence in IT and excellent attention to detail
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
As this position is an essential car user role, you will be required to travel around the District and therefore a full and current UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.
