Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team, adding value across all aspects of the school from admin, HR and finance to premises and Health & Safety.

Tarnerland Nursery School have an exciting opportunity for a Level 4 School Business Professional apprentice. You would be joining a small experienced admin team who support the school management team, school staff, children and parents.

The School Business Professional at level 4 is delivered in partnership with a training provider who is responsible for supporting you with your learning and carrying out assessments. The apprenticeship has core modules to complete and a number of optional units. Your work experience will be linked to the modules and units in your course. You will receive additional support from a nominated mentor, throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.

Apprentices will learn skills and knowledge in:
• Providing general clerical / admin support e.g. photocopying, filing, emailing, completing standard forms and responding to routine correspondence.
• Maintaining manual and computerised records / management information systems.
• Producing lists / information / data as required, e.g. pupil data.
• Drafting and monitoring the school budget. This will include providing information to the senior management team, governors and local authority.
• Understanding the educational funding streams, and compliance in spending and reporting of such streams.
• Maintaining financial records at the necessary standards for external audits.
• Taking responsibility for key budgets within the school.
• Following procurement process to ensure best value for money.
• Managing the school site including following good Health & Safety procedures, contract management and embedding rolling replacement schedules.
• Developing and maintaining effective school admin processes, including HR and pupil records to meet GDPR and DfE census standards.
• Understanding the role of the Governing Body and providing supporting documentation for their meetings when required.
• Promoting the school’s identity in the local and wider community.
• Effective communication across a wide range of stakeholders, using a variety of communication methods and technologies.
• Ensuring compliance with and implementation of Safeguarding and Health & Safety policies so all stakeholders work and learn in a safe and healthy environment.

Apprentices without certificate evidence of level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to completing training and you may be required to take an English and Maths assessment prior to a formal offer being made.

Working hours are 34.5 per week; Monday 1pm to 6pm, Tuesday 8am to 12.45pm, Wednesday 8am to 1.45pm, Thursday and Friday 7.45am to 6pm. These hours are non-negotiable due to front desk responsibilities. 20% of the hours are allocated for study.
