Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Cook Manager to join our fantastic team at our new Orchard House High School.

This is a Grade 3, permanent part time post working 30 hours per week, term time only plus 5 INSET days. The starting salary is £17,992 and the full time equivalent is £24,404.

We’re looking for: A suitably qualified Cook Supervisor, you must hold or be working towards NVQ Level 2 Food Preparation and Cooking or an equivalent qualification with operational experience of a catering facility, where high standards of food quality, service and attention to detail are paramount. The ideal candidate will adhere to pre-planned menus to ensure compliance with legislative client requirements and customer needs, support the Catering Manager in managing a team and be responsible for human resources including training and development, managing attendance, and completing payroll returns. They will also need to provide a customer focused service, which is courteous and responsive and always meets the client’s needs. Please note our new school site is due to open in Miles Platting October 2025, prior to this the team will be working across other trust sites to complete induction and training, successful applicants will be expected to travel during this time.

Main purpose of the job: Reporting to the School Operations Manager and the Head of Catering you will work closely with catering team members and lunchtime organisers. You will be responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient operation of all aspects of the catering service including supervision of the team, cash reconciliation and the completion of all financial returns.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage a quality, cost effective catering service in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs) or contracts and legislative requirements.
• Adhere to pre-planned menus to ensure compliance with legislative client requirements and customer needs.
• Carry out efficient financial administration, following Prospere Trust financial regulations.
• Provide a customer focused service, which is courteous and responsive and always meets the client’s needs.
• Support the Catering Manager in managing the team in promoting equal opportunities in the workplace and delivering services, which are accessible and appropriate to the diverse needs of service users.
