Summary
Early Years SENCO & Deputy Safeguarding Lead
Minimum 20hrs to 35hrs per week, to support work life balance – full year
Interviews: week of 21st & 28 July
As a valued member of the Honeycroft team, you will play an important role in maintaining our inclusive, and high-quality care for children with additional needs and their families.
As SENCO
1) To ensure all children have the same life chances, can meet their own potential and have equality of opportunities in their learning, development and care.
2) To give support to other team members to ensure any child’s additional needs are met.
3) To act in the role of keyworker and oversee the delivery of individual support plans for all children on case load.
Duties and responsibilities:
1) Help all team members to support all the children in their care and meet individual needs through training/mentoring/support mechanisms.
2) Ensure the centre is inclusive of all needs and requirements.
3) Build and maintain strong partnerships with external agencies.
4) Support all team members with the early identification and intervention for children with possible additional needs / special needs and give physical, emotional and intellectual guidance as appropriate.
Day to day
To work as part of a team to deliver exceptional childcare in accordance with the Early Years Statutory Guidance and other legislations by advocating for and supporting the individual needs of children with additional needs.
As Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead/Person
To deputise and support the designated safeguarding lead/person by
1) always being available (during working hours) for staff to raise any safeguarding concerns.
2) being able to complete referral process.
3) undergoing training to ensure the knowledge and skills required to conduct the role at least every two years.
4) work with trustees and safeguarding lead to ensure the safeguarding policy and procedures are implemented and updated / reviewed regularly.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
A compassionate and dedicated individual who is committed to providing high-quality care and support for young children, and their families, with additional needs.
1. A willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check and provide two references.
2. A relevant qualification at Level 3 or higher.
3. Experience working as a SENCO with Early Years children with additional needs, and a strong understanding of their developmental and care needs.
4. A good awareness of health and safety practices related to the care of young children.
5. A clear commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, in line with the Centre’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
6. A level of physical fitness that enables the safe lifting and handling of young children when needed.
7. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
8. Strong communication skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships with parents, carers and professional agencies.
9. A good level of literacy and attention to detail, with the ability to keep accurate and clear records.
10. A positive, friendly attitude and the enthusiasm to help create a happy, well-organised, and family-focused environment.
