The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the educational and personal development of students with diverse special educational needs. Your responsibilities will generally span Monday to Friday, from 8:15 AM to 4:40 PM. You'll work closely with class teachers and other specialists to:

  • Provide tailored support to individual students and small groups, adapting learning materials and strategies to meet their unique needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to the ongoing assessment and progress monitoring of students.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment where every student feels valued and can thrive.
  • Support student's social, emotional, and communication development, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in SEN education.
Who We're Looking For

We're seeking an individual with a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs. Ideal candidates will possess:

  • 6-12 months experience working in SEN or SEMH settings, specifically within a school or educational environment.
  • Proven experience working with challenging behaviours in an educational context.
  • We warmly welcome applicants who meet the above criteria and also possess transferable skills from other care-focused roles, such as SEN care, residential care, personal assistant to SEN, or fostering. Your experience in providing dedicated support and understanding individual needs will be highly valued.
  • UK-based experience is essential.
  • Excellent spoken and written English is a must, enabling clear and effective communication with students, staff, and parents.
  • A pass grade in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) is required.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this role, as there is no public transport close by.
