Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – What We’re Looking For
We're searching for a graduate who:
• Holds a 2:1 or above from a leading university in Psychology, Education, Child Development, or a similar field
• Has experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (SEN) – in a classroom, therapeutic, or voluntary setting
• Demonstrates strong emotional intelligence, patience, and adaptability
• Communicates clearly and builds positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Is considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, or child mental health
Your Role – What You’ll Do - Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Offer tailored 1:1 and group support for children with needs such as autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social-emotional challenges
• Work alongside teachers to adapt lessons and develop resources that meet individual learning needs
• Support with emotional regulation, behaviour strategies, and sensory routines
• Help pupils build confidence, independence, and self-esteem
• Contribute to progress reviews and provide valuable feedback to the SENCo and teaching staff
