Job Title: Student Support AssistantSalary:Up to £13.02 per hourContract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (until July 2026)Location: Blackbird Leys CollegeTraining: Various in-house training opportunities relevant to the role.Working Pattern: Term-time only We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our Group Learning Support team at Blackbird Leys College in Oxford.This role involves providing both academic support and personal care to students enrolled in Activate 360 - an exciting new programme designed to support young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) as they transition into post-16 education and prepare for future progression.As a key member of the team, you will work closely with students to help them fully engage in their learning, tailoring support to meet individual needs. You’ll collaborate with a range of colleagues including the wider Learning Support team, Student Services, faculty staff, and families.Your responsibilities will include:Support students during all timetabled sessions and provide supervision before, during, and after lessons.Work alongside teaching staff to raise student achievement while promoting independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion.Assist with a range of medical and occasional personal care tasks, offering physical support as needed.This position is a fixed-term, part time position working 15 per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 3pm) during term-time until July 2026, based at our BBL College campus, with the potential to extend to permanent contract depending on requirements. What do you need to be a successful Student Support Assistant at Activate Learning?Minimum GCSE English and?Maths?grade C or above.Demonstrable experience of working with young people or adults with a range of difficulties, including Autism, complex and moderate learning difficulties and/or disabilities and Social, Emotional and Mental Health and school refusal / Emotionally Based School Avoidance - EBSA.E-literate and competent in IT packages e.g.?Word, Excel, PowerPoint and have ability in finding information to support learners via the internet.Strong personal organisation skillsIf you're motivated to make a real difference and want to be part of a supportive, student-focused team, this is a fantastic opportunity to start or develop your career in education.
