Dignity Funerals is one of the UK’s leading providers of end-of-life services, supporting thousands of families each year through a network of over 500 funeral branches, care centres, crematoria, and corporate offices. We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Property & Fleet to lead the management of our national estate and vehicle operations, ensuring they are safe, compliant, efficient, and aligned with our commitment to service excellence.
This is a high-impact leadership role with a broad scope, overseeing property, fleet, and procurement functions. You will be responsible for ensuring that our estate and vehicles meet all legal, regulatory, and operational standards while driving continuous improvement, commercial efficiency, and sustainability across all areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic management of Dignity’s diverse estate portfolio—funeral homes, care centres, crematoria, and residential properties—ensuring all are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
- Oversee the Group’s fleet operations, ensuring vehicles remain fully compliant, operationally efficient, and supporting our teams in delivering exceptional service.
- Direct the effective delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, refurbishment, and capital projects across the estate.
- Lead procurement strategy and operations, embedding robust spend controls, governance, and supplier performance management.
- Manage significant budgets across all disciplines, ensuring cost-effective delivery and full financial accountability.
- Develop and lead sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and fleet electrification.
- Foster a culture of service excellence, supporting our frontline teams with responsive, well-managed property and fleet services.
We’re Looking for Someone Who
- Proven experience in senior leadership roles across property and/or estates management, ideally within a multi-site, customer-facing environment (e.g. retail, healthcare, logistics).
- Strong track record of managing large property portfolios and vehicle fleets, with experience delivering capital projects and compliance programmes.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety, property legislation, and sustainability practices.
- Commercially astute, with experience managing large budgets, contracts, and supplier relationships.
- A collaborative, visible leader with a strong focus on internal stakeholder satisfaction and operational delivery.
- Degree-qualified with relevant professional certifications (e.g. NEBOSH/IOSH essential; RICS desirable).
- Full UK Driving License as travel will form part of this position.
