Summary

SALARY: £35,340 - £40,920
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh
HOURS: Full-time (including out of hours)
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

About this opportunity

We're looking for a Junior Mainframe Db2 DBA to join our z Mainframe Lab. The z Mainframe Lab are the team that looks after the critical infrastructure that underpins Lloyds Banking Group's (LBG) strategic transactional processing systems, namely the IBM Z Mainframe. The IBM Z Mainframe is LBG's platform of choice for our high-end transactional processing requirements for business units.

As a Junior Mainframe Db2 DBA you will learn the essential technical and analytical skills required to ensure the smooth operation of the relational database management system (RDBMS), IBM Db2. IBM Db2 is one of the most powerful, reliable, and scalable database platforms for mainframe. Specific activities you'll undertake might include:

  • Assist with the administration, maintenance, and optimisation of Db2 databases on the mainframe platform.

  • Learn to monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues to ensure maximum efficiency.

  • Collaborate with senior DBAs and stakeholders to support application development and database design processes.

  • Perform database back-up and recovery tasks under guidance.

  • Participate in training and development programmes to build expertise in Db2 and mainframe environments.

  • Document Db2 processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

  • Raise and manage change records using ServiceNow.

  • Investigate and resolve Db2 related incidents and problems, ensuring ServiceNow records are updated and closed in a timely manner.

  • If you have a financial services background or experience working within a regulated environment that would be beneficial.

And any experience of these would be really useful

  • Working experience of a mainframe environment.
