Summary

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Support Worker for our Leaving Care department.

Finefair provides accommodation and floating support and guidance to vulnerable young people from 16- 25 years. Most interventions involve providing and supporting young people, whilst working in partnership with social workers and other professionals around the young person to develop their independent living skills.

We focus on creating a caring and supportive interaction between our staff and young people. We promote independence and the opportunity for each young person to achieve, so they may grow in self-confidence and self-awareness.

Purpose of the job:

As a member of the support staff at Finefair, you will be required to provide support to the care leavers, working towards their independent living.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Support: Provide one-on-one support to young people in daily living skills, including budgeting, meal preparation, personal care, and household management.
Emotional Support:Build trusting relationships with young people, offering emotional support and encouragement in a safe and caring environment.
Goal Setting: Assist young people in setting and achieving personal goals, enhancing their independence and self-esteem.
Monitoring Progress: Regularly assess and document progress, identifying areas where additional support may be needed.
Crisis Intervention: Respond effectively to any crises or challenging behaviors, implementing strategies to de-escalate situations and ensure safety.
Collaboration: Work closely with other professionals, including social workers, healthcare providers, and educational institutions to coordinate support services.
Advocacy: Act as an advocate for young people, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld in various contexts.
Engagement Activities: Organize and facilitate social and recreational activities that promote social inclusion and community engagement.
Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and development initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge related to working with vulnerable populations.
Requirements

Ideally 2 years full time experience of working with young people in residential / leaving care / community-based environments. (Essential)
Minimum NVQ level 3 health and social care or above
Candidates MUST drive and have own vehicles to drive between cases. Company car maybe provided.
