Summary

Physiotherapy Assistant

The post holder will carry out designated tasks working under the supervision of the physiotherapist and management team.

To assist qualified Physiotherapists (PTs) in the preparation, assessment and treatment of children and adults in the clinic and hydrotherapy pool.
Following a successful induction period and training the role will expand to include undertaking support work to aid in the physical management and rehabilitation of children and adults with a wide range of physical difficulties in the pool and clinic.
To assist in the organisation of training courses
To assist in the general administrative and housekeeping tasks to ensure the smooth running of the centre
To assist in maintaining the quality of the pool water and ensuring a safe working environment.

To be the first point of contact for our clients and their families, welcoming them into our centre and directing them to the changing facilities, determining which rooms are available and what facilities the client needs i.e, do they need a room with a hoist, or a bed or a chair. Providing them with information about their visit, such as the location of emergency exits, the requirement to pre-immersion shower etc.

Testing the pool water (after being trained) before and at the end of each session and informing the physiotherapist if any remedial action is required.

In the case of an emergency, assisting the physiotherapist as required.

To provide administrative support for the physiotherapist to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of service. To plan, produce and maintain physiotherapy records and programmes, in conjunction with the named therapist. To assist with booking and diary management, marketing and research.

To prepare and maintain equipment and changing/pool area including household duties.

Ensuring rooms are sanitised between each patient.

Assisting the physiotherapist in the hydrotherapy pool as required, assisting with activities, collecting floats etc.

Managing group sessions and some client sessions in the pool, after training from the PTA and physiotherapist.

Co-ordinating and managing inflow and outflux of patients to and from the building and into and out of the facilities.
