Summary
The Public Safety Group’s role is to keep the public safe by cutting crime, disrupting the highest harm criminals, protecting the vulnerable and ensuring that our police, fire and rescue services are as efficient and effective as they can be in delivering front line public services. We work with our partners in other government departments, local government and the voluntary sector to develop and implement policy, provide funding, and deliver legislation.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP).
The role of the Senior Project Support Officer covers a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the project’s objectives. The post will support the Grade 7 Project Manager through the operation of project management processes, coordinating business management actions on their behalf. You will enable the smooth running of the project supporting on the full suite of programme/project processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing project controls, reporting to the Project Manager about the project status and developing project performance reports.
- Providing information for effective decision making to the Project Manager and procurement of supplies and services related to project support within Delegated Financial Authority limits.
- Managing and engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Drafting and signing-off correspondence and assisting with the creation and maintenance of the Level 2 and Level 3 Governance Terms of References.
- Maintaining of the Workstream level Risk and Issue registers, ensuring both Workstream and Project level Risk and Issue registers are being maintained in accordance with the ESMCP Risk and Issue management process and guidelines, and leading potential risk areas by working with a risk manager and escalating as appropriate.
- Supporting the Lessons Learnt process by working with Workstream Leads and Project Managers and attending Lessons Learned workshops.
- Providing secretariat support to the Level 2 Governance Boards, including the collation and circulation of board packs, minute taking, recording actions and decisions in the actions and decisions logs, progressing actions to close-out, board scheduling and maintaining attendees.
- Actively supporting the Grade 7 Embedded PMO Lead, Project Managers, Workstream Leads and wider Programme community on ad hoc requests as required.
The above responsibilities are not exhaustive, and you may be required to undertake any of the above tasks or additional tasks not listed above, within the remit of your grade, to support the team.
Working Pattern
Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis.
Travel
The successful candidate will be expected to travel to other locations occasionally as required by the business.
