Summary

A Vacancy at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Are you an Emergency Medicine clinician looking for the next step? Would you like to work for one of the largest and most well-recognised trusts in the UK as part of a friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking team? We seek to train future leaders in Emergency Medicine by inviting ED clinicians (ST4+ or equivalent) to join our department.

Our registrar rota is annualised and self-rostered meaning you can select a working pattern that suits you, including eight hours per week of educational development time which can be used for teaching, audit, research, quality improvement work, exam revision, personal study, or any other appropriate activity agreed with your consultant supervisor. We can also offer support for progression to CESR, with several of our senior fellows currently working towards this with the supervision of a consultant CESR lead.

We are offering a fixed term appointment, starting August 2025, initially for 12 months but with potential to extend this. We know that doctors have lives outside of work, so we are positive about less than full-time working: talk to us if this is something you would like to consider.

For further details contact:
Dr Harnett: j.harnett@nhs.net

The post is suitable for experienced doctors in Emergency Medicine working at the level of an ST4+ or equivalent.

Candidates without formal membership/entrance examinations will be considered if they have longitudinal experience or equivalent qualifications.

You will be a valued member of our registrar tier and join our team of established specialty doctors, senior fellows, and training registrars from the north-central east London (NCEL) rotation.

You will work on the registrar rota, including responsibility for overall departmental management at night, with a consultant on-call from home between midnight and 8am.

You will be expected to be able to work independently in all areas of the ED including the resuscitation room, majors, urgent treatment centre and paediatrics. You will also be responsible for reviewing patients seen by our junior medical team and complementing Consultant delivered care.
