We work across three main sites providing high quality diagnostic tests to our patients. A great opportunity has arisen to be part of our small but expanding respiratory physiology team within Clinical Investigations Unit at UHMBT.
To work effectively and efficiently as part of the Senior Management team of Clinical Investigations to provide a high-quality service to patients attending the Clinical Investigations Unit of Morecambe Bay
Hospitals Trust, ensuring the highest standard of patient care.
Undertakes specialist and advanced clinical physiological tests (cardiac, respiratory or gastroenterology) analyses tests results, reports on outcomes and advises clinicians.
Accountable for professional and operational management/delivery of the Respiratory, Exercise Testing and O.M. service of Clinical Investigations. Throughout the Trust, including allocation of work and management of staff. Holds delegated budget for this service from Clinical Investigations Unit.
To provide non routine, highly specialist and advanced diagnostic investigations. Uses specialist knowledge and interpretation skills to provide full in-depth reports and analysis in a variety of clinical
settings. Uses judgement to assess clinical information and act upon this if necessary, liaising with other healthcare professionals.
To independently provide specialist and advanced assessment for referred patients. Monitoring the appropriateness of referrals, obtaining information relevant to patient care, interpreting and reporting of clinical findings and ensuring appropriate discharge or ongoing care.
To use a variety of diagnostic equipment eg. O.M equipment, respiratory function and sleep/CPAP monitors, which requires complex hand eye coordination over a prolonged period requiring intense concentration generating computerised information for technical reporting.
Responsible for safe use of expensive, highly complex equipment. This includes quality control, general maintenance and fault finding, adhering to departmental policies.
To develop effective systems of communication within Clinical Investigations and with other healthcare professionals.
Provides and received highly complex clinical information. The information may be of a sensitive nature and requires the use of developed interpersonal skills.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
