Campus Support Holiday Calculation
As shift workers, Campus Support staff have their holidays calculated differently. Since all shifts are 11 hours long (plus a 1-hour unpaid break) and follow a 4-on, 4-off pattern, the calculation ensures equivalent holiday entitlement in proportion to average shifts worked.

The shift pattern repeats over 8 weeks, during which staff work 28 shifts. This averages to 3.5 shifts per week (28 shifts ÷ 8 weeks). The calculation below applies this ratio to standard holiday entitlement.

Campus Support Holiday Entitlement (Based on Shift Pattern)

Length of Service

Calculation

Total Shift Days (Rounded)

Grade 1-4 (0-5 Years)

(22 + 13) ÷ 5 × 3.5

24.5 days

Grade 1-4 (5+ Years)

(25 + 13) ÷ 5 × 3.5

27 days

Additional Notes:

Campus Support holidays are based on shifts, rather than standard working days.
Campus Support staff work 182 shifts per year, compared to 260 working days per year for non-shift workers.
The calculation aligns with Government Guidance regarding shift workers holiday entitlement, ensuring fairness and consistency with other staff groups.
