Summary

About the role

At Balfour Beatty, we shape the future of critical infrastructure. Our Power T&D business delivers essential energy projects across the UK – and right now, we're recruiting a Temporary Works Coordinator to support high-profile works in South West, including:

  • Major infrastructure activities at Bramford Substation (4YB) and Twinstead Tee (4YH) – key locations in the National Grid transmission network
  • The Apollo project – a significant substation and network upgrade supporting the UK’s transition to a low-carbon future

Your Role:

You’ll lead and coordinate temporary works across these critical project sites, ensuring they are designed, installed, maintained, and dismantled in line with BS5975, CDM regulations, and Balfour Beatty’s safety-first standards.

What you'll be doing

As Temporary Works Coordinator, you will oversee and manage all aspects of temporary works needed to enable safe and efficient construction. Working on the BTNO project – a nationally significant project designed to improve energy resilience and support the UK’s net zero ambitions – you will ensure all temporary works are:

  • Properly planned, designed, and implemented
  • Inspected and maintained throughout their use
  • Dismantled or removed in a safe and controlled manner

You’ll play a key role in ensuring compliance with legal, industry, and company standards across a high-profile programme of works in and around Ipswich and the East Anglian region.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Act as the temporary works lead on the BTNO project and other supporting sites
  • Liaise with Temporary Works Designers, Principal Designers, and site teams
  • Maintain the Temporary Works Register and ensure all required checks are completed
  • Review and approve temporary works designs in line with BS5975
  • Drive a safety-first culture, ensuring all temporary works are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose
  • Provide practical support and engineering input across multiple sites when required
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and Balfour Beatty procedures

Who we're looking for

  • HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or similar
  • Recognised Temporary Works Coordinator training and certification
  • Experience managing temporary works on major infrastructure or power projects
  • In-depth knowledge of BS5975 and temporary works best practices
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel across the UK as part of a flexible, dynamic project delivery team
