Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day maintenance tasks and minor repairs across a rangeof properties.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools to complete tasks in carpentry, plumbing, plastering, brickwork, tiling, painting, and decorating.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and building safety standards.
• Record and report maintenance activities using digital tools.
• Support sustainability efforts by considering environmental impact and material usage.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents, and property users to gather information and clarify repair needs.
• Work both indoors and outdoors, including on external drainage, fencing, and groundworks.
• Recognise the limits of personal competence and escalate issues when necessary.

Skills & Knowledge

• Basic understanding of building construction and services (e.g., electrical, plumbing, safety systems).
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Awareness of sustainability and environmental practices in maintenance work.

Entry Requirements

• A strong interest in construction and property maintenance.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent) preferred.

Training & Assessment

• On-the-job training alongside experienced professionals.
• Off-the-job training to develop technical knowledge and skills.
• End-Point Assessment including:

• Practical assessment with questions
• Interview supported by a portfolio of evidence
• Multiple-choice test

Career Progression

Successful completion of the apprenticeship may lead to roles such as:

• Maintenance Technician
• Multi-skilled Trade Operative
• Property Technician

To support the upkeep and repair of a variety of buildings by performing routine maintenance and minor repairs. This role is ideal for individuals looking to develop a broad range of trade skills and gain hands-on experience in property maintenance.
