Summary
Transport Compliance Manager / Administrator
Location: Redruth (Scorrier)
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 per annum, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Our client, a long-established and reputable Cornwall-based transport group with a turnover exceeding £60m, a fleet of approximately 270 vehicles, and over 500 employees, is seeking an experienced Transport Compliance Manager/Administrator. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic organisation and play a key role in ensuring ongoing compliance with transport legislation and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities-
Oversee compliance with all transport regulations, including drivers’ hours, tachograph usage, and vehicle maintenance

Conduct internal audits and compliance inspections across all operational areas

Manage obligations under the Operator’s Licence and ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date

Ensure all vehicle MOTs, services, and inspections are completed and recorded correctly

Monitor driver compliance including CPC training, licensing, infringements, and safety standards

Liaise with regulatory bodies such as DVSA, HSE, and local authorities where necessary

Investigate any compliance breaches, accidents, or incidents; implement corrective measures and improvements

Maintain comprehensive records and produce compliance reports for senior leadership

Develop and manage transport-related policies and procedures in accordance with legislation and company standards

Provide guidance and training to transport teams on compliance matters

Track changes in legislation and update internal procedures accordingly
Skills & Experience Required-
Proven background in a transport compliance or similar leadership role
-
Strong understanding of relevant legislation including EU Drivers’ Hours, Working Time Directive, and Operator Licensing

Experience using telematics and tachograph analysis systems (e.g. Optac, CheckedSafe)

Proficient in MS Office and relevant compliance software

Experience leading audits and preparing reports for bodies such as DTAS, BRC, TASSC, HACCP, FORS, and ISAO

Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills

Desirable Qualifications & Experience-
Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Road Transport

IOSH certification

Experience in transporting dairy or frozen goods

Familiarity with digital compliance and fleet management tools

DGSA qualification
-
HGV CE licence
