The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for Welfare, Pensions and Child Maintenance Policy. The responsibility for managing health and employment contracts and grants sits within Contract Management and Partner Delivery (CMPD), and we also support local authorities to deliver Housing Benefit (HB) and allocate and manage billions of pounds in funding.
For jobs located in Wales, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
As Assistant Account Director, you will be a key member of the Employment Account Division (EAD) / Health Assessment and Account Division (HAAD) Senior Leadership Team to drive forward the strategic direction of the organisation.
You will be accountable for the day-to-day management to ensure effective and compliant contract management is in place, as well as influencing providers to ensure the provision of high-quality, cost-effective services, ultimately achieving better value for money for United Kingdom (UK) taxpayers.
You will be required to operate with autonomy, whilst ensuring you remain coordinated with other teams within the organisation by building and sustaining effective relationships across CMPD, FG and the wider Department as well gaining the confidence of the Chief Executives within the Provider community.
Key Accountabilities
- Accountable for the management of contracted, partner, and grant funded services to deliver consistent and timely outcomes to customers.
- Setting direction and visibly leading a team across multiple locations nationally.
- Single point of contact relating to all performance aspects of contracted out employment services supporting your account.
- Responsible for living within the allocated budget and ensuring value for money with the emphasis on cost reduction while sustaining essential services.
- Provide challenge and support to partners and suppliers, ensuring value for money and efficient use of contracts at all levels.
- Promote effective supply chain relationships.
- Work closely with providers to ensure they comply with clear standards, terms, aims and expectations in accordance with contracts.
- Drive sustained performance improvement by ensuring that business targets and objectives are met in line with original business case assumption, accurately rewarding suppliers according to performance.
- Maintain strong and effective working relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders including current providers and the potential supplier market through trade and industry networks and contacts.
- Support delivery of CMPD and DWP aims, objectives and vision as a member of the EAD / HAAD Senior Leadership Team.
- Provide direct visible and inspirational leadership to the performance management function, as well as across suppliers and the wider DWP.
- Provide Inspirational Leadership to a geographically dispersed team, with visible leadership across EAD / HAAD, suppliers, partners, CMPD and DWP.
- Have already obtained or willing to work towards Operational Contract Management qualification
