Renfrewshire Council recognises the crucial role SMEs play within the local economy and has developed a range of support programmes designed to encourage job creation and business growth.

We are looking for a highly motivated person who is seeking a challenging role within a busy economic development environment. Working as part of a team you will be responsible for delivering a business focused advice and growth development service to a portfolio of growth clients, implementing action plans and strategy to ensure effective advice to Renfrewshire businesses and delivery of Business Gateway Targets.

Customers will access the service through requests for assistance, proactive promotion of services and opportunities available and referrals from other agencies.

It is essential that you are able to demonstrate experience of; providing advisory support directly to small businesses; developing and implementing solutions to encourage and support growth businesses; being able to work effectively with others and on your own initiative to deliver deadlines and a range of targets.

It is also essential that you have the ability to; identify needs and develop innovative and pro-active solutions for SMEs; engage productively with clients, stakeholders, pan sector bodies and other statutory authorities; deliver bespoke support packages to SMEs; have effective oral and written communication skills and an understanding of the financial information used by businesses.

Presentation and report writing skills as well as knowledge of Business Gateway Programme and associated processes and procedures is also essential. A HND or equivalent in an appropriate discipline is essential. Premier Adviser or SFEDI business adviser qualification would be desirable.

A driving licence is also desirable. Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding for 12 months or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier.
