Summary

Learning Support Assistant

Actual Salary: £18,833.69 per annum Plus Local Government Pension Scheme

Salary Based on AGS Band D: SCP 7-11 (SCP 7 = £25,584 x 32.5/37 hours x 43.7/52.143 weeks ) / AGS NJC Band D: SCP 7-11 £13.26 to £14.13 per hour

Full Time (student support hours): 32.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri 8:40 am-15:40 pm
Working 190 days across the AGS term time dates, INSET days, and school holiday days to make a total of 190 working days per annum.

The Department

We are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated and enthusiastic team. Responsibilities include providing 1:1 SEN support, working in partnership with subject teachers and supervising small group interventions. Learning Support Assistants are vital in supporting students to feel confident in their abilities. And motivating them to achieve their potential.

The successful candidate will be both committed and enthusiastic with excellent communication skills. Previous experience of supporting students with SEND in a school setting would be advantageous. We are happy to accept applications seeking full or part time hours.

The SEND Team

We are a small team, currently consisting of the SENCo, Assistant SENCo Learning Support Coordinator and Learning Support Assistants. We work in a unique way within the school setting and are looking for candidates who are passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential.



Person Specification

It is expected that the successful applicant will be able to fulfil the following criteria:

Qualifications:

GCSE English and Maths at grades A-C (or equivalent)

Experience:

Experience of working with students in a school setting

Experience of working with SEND students is an advantage

Experience of working within SEND team is not essential as training will be provided in school and externally, if necessary

Relationships:

A commitment to students as individuals

A sensitive attitude to students of all abilities and ages and the ability to support teachers to meet the needs of those with Special Educational needs

Supporting students to ensure they feel confident in their abilities

A recognition of the importance of partnership with parents

A supportive and cooperative approach to colleagues

Personal Characteristics:

A commitment to the AGS ethos

A willingness to continue learning and developing as a learning support assistant

A reflective approach to their own practice and to the overall performance of the department

Hard working and adaptable

Happy to work independently or in collaboration

Able to carry initiatives through to their conclusion

Friendly and approachable

Well organised and able to meet deadlines

Demonstrate a passion for working with pupils with additional needs and an ability to enthuse students of all ages
