Summary

The Committee and Scrutiny Team are a part of the Legal Services and Partnerships Directorate and we are looking for a motivated person to come and work with us as a Scrutiny Officer which is an interesting and challenging role supporting elected members in ensuring that the Council delivers excellent services to and on behalf of the city's residents.
You will have knowledge of how the Council operates including the democratic and political processes and be able to work collaboratively across the Council and with its partners to be able to engage staff, customers and stakeholders to provide a professional democratic support service.
You will have a good understanding of research and project management methods, including risk management and be committed to continuous service improvement. You must be able to provide clear and impartial advice in a political environment.
As the team is relatively small you must be willing to be flexible in supporting the wider committee services and governance functions.
You must be able to remain calm, diplomatic, and approachable in stressful and pressurised situations whilst still providing an effective service.
The ability to work flexible hours to meet the requirements of the service is essential.
