We have an exciting opportunity to join our fantastic Workplace Health (Occupational Health) clinical team as a Workplace Health Nurse Advisor. Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an Occupational Health Nurse Advisor to join our comprehensive OH team. This will be a varied role which will involve undertaking workplace assessments and reporting on potential risks to health. You will advise employees on both physical and mental health problems, all the while maintaining the highest standards of occupational health care. This role requires good interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to put people at ease. The successful applicant will be an active team player and will also be able to work autonomously whilst using their initiative.

The position

The main duties and responsibilities of the role include the organisation and participation of pre-employment and re-deployment health assessments, reviewing and making decisions on pre-job related fitness test questionnaires, and working on various clinical mailboxes when required. The successful candidate will carry out case management, health promotion activities, and when required, participate with the delivery of Hepatitis B immunisations.

Location

Our Workplace Health Nurse Advisors are currently home-based for most of the time, but there will be a requirement for routine office-based working. However, if office-based working is preferred, this can be accommodated. The office locations are Norfolk Police Headquarters in Wymondham, Norfolk (OCC) or Capel St Mary Police Station, Suffolk.

It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:

Occupational Health National Diploma/Degree with specialist OH nurse practitioner accreditation or equivalent and significant post registration general nursing experience
Proven experience within an OH environment with provision of case management and production of management reports
Proven clinical skills including audiometry, spirometry, and immunisations
Proven enthusiasm for promoting workplace health and wellbeing
Effective verbal communication skills with the ability to retain a clear, professional approach with staff and officers of all levels and influencing skills to challenge perceptions and presentation of symptoms, conditions etc
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce concise reports providing an appropriate clinical opinion and guidance whilst not dictating operational obligations
Keyboard skills and competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to travel throughout Norfolk and Suffolk to fulfil the requirements of the role
It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:

Experience of working in a Police OH environment
Experience of health promotion activities
Experience of the OPAS G2 OH medical system
