We are an expanding supported living business in Taunton dedicated to providing person-centred care and support to adults with complex needs. Our focus is on empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being. As we continue to grow, we are seeking compassionate and committed Support Workers to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients.

We are actively reviewing numerous referrals that we have received for our organisation to provide additional 1:1 support 24/7.

We are seeking to employ a minimum:
X2 night support workers

Our clients are all based on our central site in Taunton, so there is no need to travel to different locations. We provide a vehicle for activities and community access. We do not ask our employees to use their personal vehicles.A Waking Night Support Worker at Meadow Court provides overnight care, supervision, and support to ensure safety, comfort, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Monitoring & Supervision

Conduct regular welfare checks to ensure service users are safe and comfortable.
Be alert and available throughout the shift to respond to needs.
Observe and report any changes in behaviour, mood, or health.

2. Personal Care & Support
Assist with toileting, continence care, and personal hygiene where necessary.
Reposition individuals to prevent discomfort or pressure sores.
Offer reassurance and emotional support to reduce anxiety or distress.

3. Night-time Safety & Well-being
Ensure a calm and reassuring environment to promote rest and security.
Support individuals with night-time routines, including settling back to sleep.
Follow safeguarding procedures and respond appropriately to emergencies or incidents.

4. Medication Support (if/when required)
Administer or assist with night-time medication (if trained and authorised).
Monitor for side effects or medication-related concerns.

5. Challenging Behaviour & Crisis Management
Follow positive behaviour support (PBS) plans to manage behaviours appropriately.
Use de-escalation techniques to reduce distress or agitation.
Maintain professional boundaries and ensure non-restrictive support.

6. Record-Keeping & Communication
Maintain accurate logs of night-time activities, incidents, and observations using Nourish.
Complete handover reports for day staff to ensure continuity of care.

7. Light Domestic Tasks
Keep living areas clean and tidy (e.g., laundry, kitchen, communal areas).
Prepare breakfast or support individuals with morning routines if needed.

8. Deep Cleaning Tasks
Deep clean allocated area (usually Lounge and Kitchen) during the night. This includes pulling out furniture and cleaning behind them and ensuring that this is done timely so that the client is in bed when this task is completed to reduce risk.

9. Maintaining Training Standards
All employees, whether on days or nights are to ensure that they complete all mandatory training within a given timeframe. All employee are to monitor their email inboxes on arrival to ensure they stay up to date with communications.

Essential Skills & Qualities
Patience, empathy, and a person-centred approach.
Ability to stay alert and responsive throughout the shift.
Good communication and record-keeping skills.
Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.

Our shift pattern is as follows:
Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday & Saturday, Sunday
Week 2 - Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.
The shifts are 9pm - 9am.
This averages as 42 hours per week which is how the contracts work.
