A little about myself:
I am a 10-year-old girl who lives at home with my parents and siblings in the Swansea area. I have a diagnosis of severe ASD and anxiety. I am preverbal in that I can say one-word sentences such as squash, cookies and more. I attend an STF unit fulltime and when I am at home, I like to spend much of my time in my bedroom where I feel most comfortable. I have been awarded 4 hours a week direct payment and this is to support my parents within their caring role. I would like to take time to get to know my personal assistant and work on outcomes such as spending time in the garden and eventually working towards spending time in the community.
Driver required to take me out.
Female preferred.
Hours of work
4 hours a week.
Hours to be worked flexibly over.
Rate of pay.
£13.13
Essential:
I need you to:
• I have anxiety, so structure and routine are very important to me. Without this I may become dysregulated, and this may show in my behaviours. I need to be reassured through using my communication lanyard to help me communicate as best as I can.
• When I am not feeling my best I can display behaviours of concern, I can hit out, spit, bite, scram, scream and shout. When I present like this it is important for you give me the space I need and time to allow me to regulate.
• The things that help me to regulate are soft toys, drinking squash and having my iPad.
• I require support in all aspects of my life including personal care/toilet, having food prepared for me, getting dressed and undressed and ensuring my safety when out in the community.
• When I’m in the community I do not like anyone holding my hand and I will respond to guidance given to me such as stop when it is not safe to cross the road and go when it is safe to do so.
• At home I have family dogs therefore my personal assistant would need to feel comfortable around dogs.
Desirable
I’d prefer if:
• I love singing, music, dancing and films with music in and would like for this to be promoted to ensure you increase my happiness.
• I love being outside in my garden and going for walks in the community however this does need to be led by me.
• It would be great if my personal assistant had previous experience of working with other children who have similar needs to me.
I’d like support with
• Being able to spend time at home, where I can do activities that I like, sometimes this can be spending time in my bedroom alone watching telly, downstairs playing with the puppy or out the garden in the paddling pool or on the trampoline. This would allow my parents time to get on with general household tasks.
• I like to spend time walking in the community and playing in the park, this would be to be led by me.
I will need my PA to:
Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality.
Be confident, mature and have patience.
Be dependable and arrive on time.
Be friendly with an easy-going manner.
Be adaptable and flexible.
Be supportive but not take over.
Support with my independence.
