Summary
SC Installation Technician - Mechanical/Electrical (143lw) - West Midlands - £32-£37k + uncapped Overtime (£50-£60k++)
Are you ex-military and looking for a new challenge where your skills, discipline, and team-first mindset will be truly valued?
DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.
This is a great opportunity to step into a hands-on, structured role within the construction and security solutions sector. Ideal for someone ready to make their mark in a high-growth company that values integrity, precision, and responsibility.
With over 30 years of proven success in the UK and internationally, our client specialises in high-quality entrance control systems, including security portals, turnstiles, and sensor-based technology - protecting critical national infrastructure such as airports, government sites, data centres, and corporate HQs.
Candidates ideally need to be based in Birmingham, covering secure sites across the UK as part of a tight-knit installation team.
Some of your responsibilities as an Installation Technician will involve
• Installing and commissioning - high-end physical security products
• Conducting site surveys, safety briefings, and toolbox talks
• Collaborating with other trades - from senior project managers to on-site contractors
• Staying away as needed (UK-wide - all expenses covered), with work-from-home flexibility between deployments. Includes visits to their HQ in Yorkshire OR the regional base in Kent
• Maintaining strong site discipline, quality standards, and representing the company’s core values
All our client’s equipment is well built and as such generally heavy. You will be ideally physically fit meaning the equipment can be moved into position and onto/off the provided lifting aids.
Job Requirements
• A background in hands-on roles (electrical/mechanical/engineering)
• Confidence reading site plans and coordinating work efficiently
• Calm under pressure, with high personal standards and adaptability
• It would be desirable to have: CSCS Card, IPAF/PASMA certifications, Gate safe trained or experience with access control, gates, turnstiles, or doors
• Security-vetted sites - SC Clearance is required (or ability to undergo vetting)
If you are interested in applying, please send a copy of your CV with a note outlining why this would be the ideal opportunity for you to Liz Walsh at Ex-Mil Recruitment Ltd by email to liz@ex-mil.co.uk
