About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated Teacher of English to join a secondary academy in Leeds from September 2025. This is a full-time position that offers you the chance to teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, and potentially Key Stage 5 for the right candidate.

Essential Requirements

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Excellent subject knowledge of English Language and Literature
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons to KS3 and KS4 students.
  • Create engaging and inclusive lesson plans aligned with the curriculum.
  • Assess, monitor and track student progress to inform teaching.
  • Mark and provide constructive feedback in line with school policies.
  • Promote literacy across the curriculum.
  • Encourage a love of reading and writing across the school.
  • Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE English Language and Literature exams.
  • Contribute to curriculum development within the English faculty.
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection standards at all times.
  • Organise and contribute to English-related extracurricular activities.
