Pay rate: £31.34 per hour PAYE
The post requires a full clean driving licence.
The role:
We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Repairs and Maintenance Officer to join our team. You will be responsible for the effective delivery and supervision of property repairs and maintenance services, ensuring high standards, value for money, and timely completion of works.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, assess, and manage repair works, including pre, in-progress, post, and void inspections
Identify maintenance needs and arrange cost-effective repairs using contractors or in-house teams
Ensure quality of works and approve payments upon satisfactory completion
Monitor contractor performance and support continuous improvement of service delivery
Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure properties and estates are well-maintained and any possible breaches of tenancy conditions
Conduct estate inspections, support tenancy enforcement, and promote a clean and safe environment
Support the development of efficient, customer-focused repair processes and escalate technical queries as needed
Carry out health and safety checks, including asbestos monitoring
Participate in the out-of-hours standby rota as required
Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and ensure the confidentiality of personal data
What the client is looking for:
GCSE level education & GCSE/equivalent in Maths and English
Extensive knowledge of building construction, services, defects and appropriate remedies
Extensive experience of dealing with members of the public in a building repairs & maintenance environment
Experience of managing refurbishment works in compliance with Health & Safety Legislation
Experience of ordering and processing repair orders, including the use of Schedule of Rates
Experience of interpreting and collating Stock Condition data and in using ‘keystone’ or similar type of asset database
Experience of managing DLOs and the management of small programmes of responsive and planned works
Ability to prepare specifications, schedule of works and estimates
Ability to organise, plan and prioritise work often under pressure
Some experience of using computerised repair systems is desirable
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good IT skills
Strong teamworking skills with the ability to work effectively as a member of an established team and to actively contribute towards the development of the service
Excellent customer care skills and interpersonal skills
Good organisational skills and good people management skills
