Qualifications and Professional Development
Essential:
• GCSE grade A*-C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
• NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience.
Desirable:
• Evidence of further study and/or qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Essential:
• Understanding a variety of positive behaviour management.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills as well as ICT skills.
• Good communication and inter-personal skills, courteous and politeness.
• Ability to represent and celebrate the values, culture and ethos of the school.
• Ability to relate well to students, be an effective role model and motivate students to achieve success.
• Ability to raise standards of attainment and aspiration
• Professional manner at all times, excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
• Knowledge of assessment models and other relevant learning strategies/programmes of study.
• Enthusiasm, sense of humour, initiative and self-motivation.
• Flexibility, creativity and ability to think laterally.
• Effective time management skills.
• Ability to be reflective and self-critical.
Desirable:
• Skilled in conflict resolution / restorative practices
• Knowledge of all Microsoft Applications is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum
• Ability to take part and /or lead in extra-curricular activities.
Experience
Essential:
• Experience as teaching assistant or similar role
• Experience of behaviour management with children of primary age.
• Working effectively in an education environment
• Working as part of a team or on own initiative
Desirable:
• Experience of whole class teaching.
• Preferably at least 2 years’ experience of applying the regulations applicable to Health & Safety, Hygiene, Child Welfare & Protection.
Other:
• Willing to support the school in childcare provision in the school holidays.
• Availability to support the school in childcare provision in the school holidays.
