About us
The SEN team is a great place to work if you are passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs.
We currently have an exciting vacancy as an SEN caseworker within our busy team delivering Salford City Council’s statutory responsibility for the assessment, drafting and amending of Education, Health and Care Plans, and for the placement and review of children and young people (0 -25) with SEND.
The team is responsible for the delivery of the Local Authority’s statutory duties in relation to the assessment, provision and review of children and young people with complex SEN. Working closely with parents and other professionals from schools, health services and social care, the team ensure that the special educational needs of children are met within the context of managing resources fairly and equitably.
The SEN team co-ordinate the statutory assessment and review process, produce Education, Health & Care Plans, identify and commission appropriate provision.
We want every child and young person aged 0- 25 with SEND to have the fullest opportunity to be happy, healthy and achieve their full potential.
About the role
As an SEN caseworker, you will be responsible for the assessment, drafting and amending of EHCPs, the placement in appropriate educational settings and review of children and young people (0-25) with SEND, and ensuring the EHCPs are of a high quality and meet statutory duties in relation to the Children and Families Act (2014), the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the Equality Act (2010). You would provide advice and support to schools and settings, parents and carers, children and young people, and other invested stakeholders on matters relating to children and young people with SEND requiring an EHCP. You will be expected to attend some statutory review meetings and other multi-agency meetings and where required give advice on SEN statutory processes, take appropriate follow up actions and liaise with senior SEN caseworkers on recommendations.
To be successful in this role you need to be passionate about working together to achieve good outcomes for children and young people with SEND, have knowledge of SEN statutory processes, and have a good understanding of the challenges for children and young people with SEND.
Salford City Council is an ambitious organization. We are working hard to build a brighter future for our city and its residents and we need people from a wide range of backgrounds to continue delivering the best for and with our communities.
