Summary

1. Job Purpose The main purpose of this role is to increase the capacity of student nurse placements (including apprentices) in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough General Practices and to ensure that students have a high-quality clinical learning experience. The post holder will: Maintain knowledge of Registered Nurse & nursing Associate course curriculum, proficiency & assessment requirements Participate in facilitating digital placement days & maintaining relevant & up-to-date content Contribute to developing new placement opportunities within primary care. Collaborate in maintaining up-to-date Student Nurse Placement packs. Promote the advantages of hosting student nurses to GP Practices in a defined are within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough (link Practices). Create & maintain support networks for Practice Assessors, Practice Supervisors in link Practices so they can fulfil their role confidently and to a high standard. Act as a point of contact for Practice Assessors, Practice Supervisors and students for any organisational issues that arise leading up to and during the placement. Contribute to developing and curating a student nurse placement page on the Training Hub website Contribute to collecting and interpreting data to evaluate experience of students, Practice Assessors & Practice Supervisors. The post holder will carry out any other duties as may reasonably be required by the Training Hub Manager. 2. Relationships The post holder will be able to: Establish strong relationships and two-way communication channels with GP nurses and Practice Managers in link practices Work in collaboration with local HEIs and other education providers to establish and promote high quality student placements. Work collaboratively to resolve difficulties during student placements. Work collaboratively to support the delivery of apprenticeships. Sustain strong professional networks with colleagues in the Training Hub to support learning and development for nurses. 3. Functional responsibilities Leadership In collaboration with the local HEI and the Practice Placements, develop and maintain high-quality clinical learning environments for student nurses in link Practices. Support the development Practice Supervisors in link Practices in line with the NMC Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (SSSA) Recruit and support the development of Practice Assessors in link Practices in line with the NMC SSSA. Proactively identify and share good practice across professional networks. Promote General Practice as a placement opportunity and as a career of choice Take responsibility for own development of professional and leadership skills. Support for primary care nurses Provide peer support opportunities for Practice Assessors and Practice Supervisors in link Practices. Identify and signpost Practice Assessors and Practice Supervisors to resources and training that supports them in their role. Act as a point of contact for any practical issues that arise leading up to and during a placement Support for students and apprentices Ensure all students/apprentices allocated to a General Practice placement have contact information well in advance of their start date and have a Student Nurse Placement pack. Ensure that students /apprentices have a named Practice Assessor. Act as a point of contact for any practical issues that arise leading up to and during a placement Relevant to all Staff Act as a role model within the health community demonstrating high standards of practice and a professional attitude always.
