Summary

HSE Assistant | Sheffield | Full Time | Salary depending on experience

Our client is the UK’s leading forge master in the oil & gas industry and has recently acquired accreditations for the Nuclear and Aerospace industries. With over 40 years’ experience in forging, they are specialists in creating bespoke products using open die forging.

They currently have an amazing career opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for the Health and Safety field. You will be an integral part of a small team responsible for communicating rules on Health, Safety and Environment legislation and local guidelines pertaining to safety in the workplace. You will also be responsible for providing plant training to employees.

Are you the right person for the job?

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, skills and personal attributes: -

• IOSH
• Previous experience within the steel manufacturing industry
• Experience with both ISO 14001 and 45001 systems
• Mobile Plant Instructors Qualification
• Experience in accident investigation techniques
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Good IT skills, particularly with Word and Excel
• Ability to build credible relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to effectively explain HSE requirements. Passing on knowledge to others.
• Methodical and organised
• Keen eye for accuracy and detail
• Team player with the ability to also work on their own initiative
• Committed to improving site safety and environmental performance in line with best practice

What will your role look like?

• Promote a proactive safety culture to continuously improve health and safety performance and awareness across the site
• Ensure all vehicles, plant and personnel operate safely and comply with company H&S policies and procedures
• Actively promote best practice in areas of Health, Safety and Environment
• Conduct training needs analysis for employees and develop, implement and conduct appropriate training programs to support identified needs and ensure a high degree of competency
• Supports the risk assessment process, including compilation of the outcomes, such as documented Safe Working procedures, signs, notices and effective use of the appropriate equipment
• Support the implementation and auditing of both health, safety and environmental management systems in accordance with the standard of ISO 14001 and 45001 compliance
