About The Glasshouse International Centre for Music
We’re a place where you can hear rock legends or pop icons on the same night as folk trios or opera singers. Where new musicians
are nurtured and showcased on the same stages as platinum- selling performers. And where youth choirs and tambourine- shaking
toddlers practice in the same spaces as our acclaimed orchestra Royal Northern Sinfonia.
Whether you’re front of house, waiting in the wings or keeping things running behind the scenes you will be part of a team that
means 2 million people enjoy top – notch gigs, concerts and classes in our own venue at Gateshead Quays, out in communities across
the North East and through live- streamed performances and digital lessons.
As the Contemporary Music Marketing Co-ordinator you’ll be in the front line of helping us get new gigs on sale. You’ll be finding
the right words, channels and tactics to help keep every show full of music lovers having brilliant days and nights out, ensuring
The Glasshouse is able to be at it’s best; packed with people, alive with music.
About you
Are you self-motivated, happy working in a team environment and flexible enough to adapt to a changing environment? If this sounds
like you, read on to find out how you can hit the ground running.
We’re looking for someone who will love being busy working with a wide range of artists, managers and live music promoters to make
sure their gigs are a roaring success.
You will be responsible for pulling together all the information and artwork needed to help spread the word about each gig. You’ll
be briefing in artwork and social media content, getting the event webpages looking their best and planning in print and digital
advertising that will reach and inspire music fans new and old.
You’ll be working with external promoters and providing marketing services including targeted emails and social ads to help them
maximise audience numbers. And you’ll be working on The Glasshouse’s own shows with campaigns that show the venue at its very
best.
It’s a busy role in a small team that means you’ll need to be well-organised, self-motivated and great at communicating with
colleagues. You’ll learn lots about how gigs work, and if you can bring your creativity and knowledge of live music and audiences
then we will have found the perfect mix.
It would be great if you had experience in:
Writing great copy that grabs attention, engages people and helps create excitement for unmissable events.
Working with brand guidelines, and an understanding of how a tone of voice and visual identity can help build audiences.
Planning marketing campaigns for shows or events, including planning paid social media content, print advertising and identifying
ways to get the right message to the right crowd.
Working with external partners to deliver marketing services, and colleagues in other teams to get messaging right for everyone.
Skills and knowledge of:
Live music or events in the North East, and the audiences that attend them.
Digital marketing platforms and tools that can be used to reach music fans.
Effective email marketing, including how to create an email with an online platform (we use Wordfly) and how to build customer
lists (we use Tessitura).
How to evaluate the reach and effectiveness of a marketing campaign, and how to use that information to inform future work.
It also helps if you have:
A love of live music, and experience working in promoting live shows.
Knowledge of audience profiles and how to use them to inform marketing activity
Experience of working with box office or CRM systems. We use Tessitura; but don’t worry if you haven’t used this specific platform
before.
You’ll be responsible for:
In a typical day you might be collating information about an artist for a show; meaning you’ll be speaking to artist managers or
promoters to get the latest information, turning that into engaging web copy so you can setup an event page. Meanwhile you’ll talk
to colleagues in the box office to make sure the event can go onsale, while briefing in design assets for digital and print media
and making sure the show lands on our social media channels and is visible on all the right listings sites. You might be speaking
to multiple partners to get these items signed off, and also making sure colleagues who work in press and communications
understand what makes this gig important.
On some days there’ll be multiple shows to work on, and you’ll also be monitoring sales and the effectiveness of marketing
activity to help you plan email work, social media advertising or wider print, digital or mixed-media campaigns for multiple
gigs.
You’ll be speaking to lots of people, and there’ll be plenty of administrative work to do to make sure things run smoothly and our
team know what’s happening, when. At times you’ll be getting print out and about in the building and beyond, or helping create
social media content – so there might be some out of hours, out and about moments in the role. You’ll mostly be based at The
Glasshouse office, with TOIL offered and regular home-working an option if needed.
But don’t worry if you’re not a perfect match for the job description and criteria, we’d love you to apply anyway. We are more
interested in your determination, positivity, and willingness to get stuck in.
Our commitment to your development
