Summary

Raven House is a five bedded children's home for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

They say the heart of any home is the kitchen and as our in house Cook you will be a vital part of creating a warm and welcoming home for our young people.

What will you be doing?

You may have experience of working in a kitchen environment previously but this is not essential. We are looking for someone who can make tasty home cooked, nutritious meals and may turn their hand at baking the occasional cake/dessert. Organising “theme nights” (Burns Nights supper, American food theme night etc.) is also required.

You would be responsible for menu planning, stock control and the cleaning of the kitchen.

Helping our young people develop their cooking and cleaning skills to help with their independence, introducing them to new foods and experiences and helping with skills such as budgeting

About you

A Food Hygiene Certificate would be an advantage but full training would be given to the suitable applicant.

You are able to plan engaging menus and effectively manage the food budget

You find it easy to build positive relationships with young people and respect that although the kitchen is your main place of work, it is their home so maintain an inviting and welcoming atmosphere.

You have an understanding of safeguarding and feel able to report any concerns

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Barred List check
