The Chase, Specialist Provision at SGS College has an excellent reputation for delivering an outstanding curriculum to high needs learners aged 16-24. Their tailored curriculum supports learners to acquire the skills they need to prepare them for adulthood and improve skills for employment and independent living.
To maintain the growth of provision, we are looking for a self-motivated individual who can confidently teach Pre-entry to Entry level 3 across various subject areas including Life Skills, English/maths, with knowledge/interest in Catering would be especially beneficial.
Our learners need innovative and creative teaching methods to encourage and engage learning. If you are passionate about teaching and learning, can translate this to your students using a range of effective strategies, and have experience of working with Special Educational Needs and disability, you will enjoy being part of a committed and dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities:
-Under the supervision of the Specialist Provision Manager and Curriculum Lead, to plan and deliver a curriculum to include Life skills, social skills, employability, maths and English.
-Completing an initial assessment with each student to establish the correct levels to be undertaken and agreeing the target timescale for completion in line with College guidelines.
-Providing learners with the skills and knowledge where necessary to help them achieve across the curriculum, including English, Maths.
-Following the guidance issued by both the Awarding Body and the College with regard to assessment practice and the completion of documentation, and to engage in Internal Verification and standardisation meetings throughout the year.
-Maintain appropriate Continuing Professional Development, including the attendance on all training events identified for you by the Specialist Provision Manager, to ensure the highest standards of quality in your teaching/assessing.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
-Educated to degree level or equivalent or have substantial relevant SEND experience.
-Teaching qualification or willing to be working towards - You will be required to obtain a Stage 3 full professional qualification (PGCE in post-16 education or equivalent) within 2-4 years of commencing teaching duties within the College
GCSE Maths and English grade C or above or Level 2 equivalent
-Experience working with Pre-entry to Entry level learners with SEND
-Qualifications/CPD related to working with learners with learning disabilities
-Experience of working in Further Education or schools supporting learners with learning disabilities
-Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
-Experience of using Office software packages, email and web browsers
