Havencare is a forward-thinking and growing charity. We have been making a difference for 35 years, changing the lives of people who have learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries, and other support needs. Our big aims include every person having a home that is right for them, and support for the life they choose.

At Havencare, first and foremost, we are looking for outstanding people who align with our values of Transparency, Quality and Engagement.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, resourceful and forward-thinking person and are excited to be recruiting a Support Worker to support M within our service in Brixham.

About the Role:
As part of the team, you will be supporting M, who lives in his own home in Brixham. M moved into his home in 2022 after spending several years in hospital in Cardiff. M is looking for someone to join his team that can support him in his own home and further enhance his daily life.

Here are some words from M’s family:

We would like M’s support team to learn as much about M as possible. This includes observations from existing carers of M’s, to interacting with those around him. Knowledge of M: anxiety, quiet moments and interests are vital to understand for all supporting M in his home. M has trouble understanding the social norms of life, but he does have a high level of intelligence that includes reading, writing, excellent memory, operating a laptop, iPad, games, and he also enjoys pen and paper hangman. Patience and flexibility with M are important and there are numerous interests he finds enjoyment in which include music, dance, stories, film scenes - called up from the internet - films and comedy series.

M also likes going out for daily drives in his car and likes Horrid Henry and Only Fools and Horse’s sitcom. M likes staff that are creative, tell funny jokes and draw his favourite characters from Horrid Henry.

If you feel you could make a real difference in M’s life, we would love to hear from you.

A UK Driver’s Licence or international driving licence with at least 6 months left before expiry and access to your own vehicle and Business Insurance is essential.
