Summary
Are you a Manager or Deputy Manager who’d like to work part-time?
We are a young and growing day nursery that cares for children of all ages from 6 months to 8 years old. We’re looking for a part-time Deputy Manager to work alongside our current part-time Deputy Manager. If a move to part-time work, or perhaps coming back to Early Years in a part-time position would suit you, we’d love to hear from you!
What started out as a childminding setting in 2014, just kept on growing. In 2022 we became a fully fledged day nursery. Now with over 15 staff, we're looking to find the right person to assist with leading and managing our setting.
Above all, we put children first. This is echoed in our staff code of conduct, and in everything we do. As we grow we're working hard to empower and enable our staff to do what they do best - play, love, teach and care for all those around them.
We make sure no one is tied down with red tape, form filling or endless tick box exercises. Care and learning goes hand in hand with smiles, fun, play and laugher with us. We don't micro-manage so the role would suit someone who is a do-er, who is self motivated, enthusiastic, pro-active and goal orientated.
Here are some of the things you should be familiar with as a Deputy Nursery Manager:
Leadership and Support:
Assist the Nursery Manager in overseeing all aspects of nursery operations
Provide guidance and support to staff
Deputise in the absence of the Nursery Manager
Child Development:
Create a nurturing environment that fosters children’s learning and development
Implement the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum
Observe and assess children’s progress
Health and Safety:
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Conduct risk assessments and maintain a safe environment
Promote healthy practices among children and staff
Parent Partnership:
Build strong relationships with parents and guardians
Communicate effectively about children’s progress and well-being
Organise parent events – sports and graduation days????
Staff Management:
Supervise and appraise nursery staff
Support their growth and development
Actively promote a positivity, professionalism, care and co-operation
Standard childcare recruitment practice applies, including following our safer recruitment policy and procedures, a DBS check, identity check, qualification check and we will kindly ask for two references.
Skills / Qualifications:
Full and relevant Level 5 Childcare qualification
QTS/EYPS/EYTS (Approved Level 6 qualification)
Alternatively:
Level 3 childcare qualification AND
Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience at a childcare setting
Experience of the responsibilities of management
Full working knowledge and experience of the EYFS and Ofsted requirements
Experience of working as a DSL and/or SENCO would be an advantage
