Summary

You will be working within the Collaboration Engineering team in End User Compute and Collaboration (EUC&C), which is part of Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT), to provide Microsoft 365 (M365) services to over 65,000 users across the Home Office.

As part of the EUC&C team, you will work within a multi-skilled, multi-disciplinary, product-focused agile environment of Infrastructure Engineers, Developers, and DevOps Engineers. You will be ensuring that Microsoft 365 and Azure services, and products built upon these platforms are integrated, tested, delivered and operated as required.


An Infrastructure Engineer supports and maintains infrastructure solutions and services as directed and according to departmental policy and Home Office strategy.

We are looking for candidates with experience in the following technologies:

  • Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams.
  • Infrastructure automation and low-code tools such as PowerShell, Power Platform, Logic Apps and Runbooks.
  • Security and compliance practices including identity and access management, data loss prevention (DLP), conditional access policies, and audit logging.

What you will do

Your main day to day responsibilities will be:

  • Building, configuring, transitioning, administering and supporting infrastructure technologies and solutions such as: compute, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, cloud, (Microsoft 365/Azure/Power Platform), commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open-source packages and solutions.
  • Resolving technical problems, ensuring that technical solutions continue to meet business requirements taking accountability for actions taken and decisions made.
  • Identifying the correct procedures and appropriate channels for resolution and monitor resolution activities and progress updates to users.
  • Investigating faults in systems, processes and services, and advise on the implementation of appropriate solutions and preventative measures.
  • Working collaboratively to ensure that a set of IT products, suppliers and vendors come together to deliver an IT service.
  • Using logical designs created by technical architects and required standards, methods and tools (including prototyping tools where appropriate) to build infrastructure solution.
  • Working as part of a team to administer and support Microsoft 365 including email, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams and others as they get developed and rolled out.
